This is my third year teaching second grade. I taught first grade for nine years here at Flower Mound and kindergarten for four years at C.C.D.C. in Lewisville. My husband, Roger, and I have three children. David and his wife, Jennifer, are both chemical engineers and live in Lafayette, Indiana with our beautiful granddaughter, Laura. Kristin is a senior chemical engineering major at Georgia Tech, and Daniel will be a freshman at the University of Oklahoma. We also have two dogs, Arthur and Ginger, and a cat named Comet. I am really excited about all that is planned for this year. We will be reading lots of stories, writing our own stories and poetry, and practicing spelling. Some of our poetry will be posted on our Web Page, and we will be making Flat Stanley to send to a friend or relative somewhere in the United States. Then we will follow Stanley's travels throughout the year as we learn about places in the United States and even write a report about a special place. We will also be making timelines with photographs and written information about each year in your life. I can't wait to learn more about you. Math and Science are two of my favorite subjects. Math games, math facts, patterns, quilts, and some wonderful literature will help us learn more about numbers. Everyone loves science experiments, and we will use the scientific method to study bubbles, learn more about animals, explore dinosaurs, observe weather, and examine our earth. It will be a terrific year as we work and learn, play, and make new friends. I have tried to tell you just a few of the exciting things that will be happening in second grade. I am anxious to get to know you and see how we can work together using our imagination and talents to accomplish great things. Mrs. Dennison |
